Hi everyone, my name is Les and I live in South London, just by the Thames. I recently changed from Olympus to Canon. I loved the Oly, but found the lack of a decent grip on the camera annoying, as was the price of their lenses and the lack of third party ones.

Anyway, I thought I'd start with the 1000D, to see how I liked the feel, and have since purchased the 500D too, so I loved it! My main interests are macro and Landscape (when I get the time to travel outside London). I have also subscribed to the magazine.

Oh, back in the day when I processed my own film and prints I used a Canon AE-1 (auto) and an AT-1 (manual) camera - I think that's what they were called? An old boy comes home!

Les.

Hi All,
My name: Tony Volante
My Age: 75
My location: Newton Abbot, South Devon. England.

On Joining the RAF in 1953 at 17½ years old I bought my first camera, a Kodak Box Brownie 620 and used black & white film.
Posted to Cyprus I swopped the Brownie for a Franka Solida Junior 6x6 folding bellows job. We started a photographic club and I learned how to develops and print my own photos. Still using B&W.

On leaving the RAF I worked for a fashion agency just off Regent Street in London, mostly working in their darkroom. I bought myself a Yashica 44 TLR, using 127 film in 4x4 format. Still mostly B&W. Since then I have never been without a camera of some sort, ranging from a 16mm Minolta sub-miniature camera to a 6x9 plate camera. There were many types of 35mm camera ranging from a Zenith-E up to (my last 35mm) a Canon EOS 650 with which I specialised in natural history photography and was awarded an LRPS by the Royal Photographic Society. I built myself a darkroom, but only for B&W again. I also enjoyed landscape photography and for this I used a Mamiya C330 6x6 TLR and a Zenith 80 6x6 SLR.
I then moved on to Digital cameras, starting with a Ricoh RDC-300Z, through to my current camera which is a Nikon D-80. Lenses for it range from a Nikkor 35/70 + Macro f3.3. Nikkor 55/200 f1.4. Sigma 400mm f5.6.

However, I have long hankered to return to Canon cameras and have now finally taken the plunge. As soon as all my Nikon gear is sold (eBay) I intend to buy a new Canon EOS 1000D and some lenses for my wildlife photography.
My web-site: www.microaviator.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index.html
Some of My photos: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/tonyvee.volante30

Best wishes
Tony

Hi everyone. Joined the forum to learn more about photography and using my equipment.

I have an EOS 5D with BG-E4 Battery Grip.

My lenses are; Sigma 17-35mm 1:2.8-4, Tamron 90mm 1:2.8 Macro, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8, Canon EF 75-300 Zoom. The lens I use most is a Canon EF 24-105 1:4 IS L Series.

Flash equipment; Canon 580EX Speedlight + STE2 Transmitter somewhere that I have never used.

Other bits and pieces include various filters for the lenses, TC-80N3 Timer-Remote Controller, Canon Angle Finder C 1.25X 2.5X, Canon "Off-Camera Shoe Cord", Polaris Flash/Light Meter and Canon Angle Bracket.

No particular expertise, I enjoy all forms of photography, apart from lots of family shots, do most things for my own enjoyment.

Re future upgrades I would love an EOS 1d Mk 1V, but being realistic due to cost, would probably have to settle foran EOS 5D Mk II.
