My wife doesn't like my bird pictures, in fact she doesn't like birds at all. She is OK with my other stuff, but not the birds.

It therefore came as some surprise when she suggested that I enter "Sydney Cygnet" for the countryfile calendar. "I don't do competitions" was met with gentle persuasion (nagging!), so in the end I entered it. The theme is a "A Moment of Magic", where the viewer wishes they had been there to see it and it has to be related to the English countryside, or wildlife, but excluding pets and zoo's. I thought it had a chance!

A couple of days later I checked out the BBC Countryfile site and found out that entries were in excess of 30,000. Initial judging will be by a panel of ex winners to bring it down to 3,000 and then a panel of judges will choose the 12, which will be judged by BBC viewers to find the overall winner.

30,000 to 1? ................. no chance! But, "She Who Must be Obeyed" wants a copy done in canvas for the kitchen, so perhaps I have won after all!

For the benefit of new members, here is a shot of Sydney Cygnet.

Their prices look good on some items but I am always a little wary of dealing with companies that only have a PO box as a contact address.
