    EOS-1D C and EOS Cx00 family

Just out of curosity as one does I've been looking at these new cameras.

The lenses for them (even with an EF mount) are amazingly expensive ... even compared with big white lenses. Anyone any idea what makes them so expensive? ... I'm thinking very high resolution (much higher than the equivalent L glass) and minimal disortions ... and could you attach one to a 5D or 7D ...

    CN-E-85mm T1.3 L F ca.$6,800.
    CN-E-30–300mm T2.95–3.7 L F ca.$47,000

Nah no interest in movies ... Just curious that's all.

    Thats serious dosh!!

I've had my 5D2 for 3 years and shot my first wee movie clip last week.
I was visiting a wee coastal town and the swell was amazing to watch.
After taking a few stills I found that they lacked the power of the waves so I took a 30s clip and was quite impressed with the IQ when plugged into my TV
Its some thing I will probably try again but certainly not with these lenses

Cinema lens are expensive because they are a different design inside in that they dont change focal length when focussing.
Note that they are manual aperture and focus

So that's what focus breathing is all about then.

I've taken the odd bit (and I mean odd ... I'm no 'movie' maker) of video with the 7D and G10 ... more for amusement than any real purpose.
