    Moon at 800mm

Nothing I haven't done before but I'm always a sucker for Moon images so after seeing Jeff's hand held Moon shot I thought I'd take a quick snap as the Moon is about right for pulling out the detail.

Rushed for time(work)so taken late afternoon about 5:00pm so had to darken and desaturate the image a little to lose the blue sky

Shot at 800mm(400mm with x2 converter) which is a simular range to Jeff's 600mm on his 1D mkIII cropped sensor.
Also used tripod unlike Jeff + IS ON even though on tripod the IS stops all the wobbling when shooting at 800mm.

Nice one Paul ,super shot it goes to show there's not that much difference to be gained by laying out lots of money on gear ,once you attain a certain level the increases are minut'e

It's like everything Jeff you have to pay big to get small improvement, though the sigma would be no good to me for sport at f5-6.3.

If sigma did a 400 f2.8 (or even f4)i would take a look but it would have to perform better than the 120-300f2.8 which just couldn't focus well on moving subjects and I missed so many shots I had to replaced it with the 400mm lens and that's spot on week in week out.

I'm still struggling with apertures in the spring fine weather Monday -Friday but come Saturday all change overcast with showers is the norm for me I can't remember the last time the sun shone on a Saturday maybe next weekend will be better
