    More London Place

Some of the architecture in London is striking and exceptionally well considered. This is 'More London Place' and the central water course here is called 'The Rill': it's 260 mts long and nicely leads the eye towards one of the Tower Bridge towers.

Everything in this shot seems to work together very well, even all the people don't distract you from the shot they just seem to fit in very nicely.

                    Thanks Paul

My Flickr page has a couple of other images taken at the same time but I also thought the nice spread of people made this 'the one'.

Of interest, those Windows 10 users will be familiar with the random picture they display at each logon. Almost invariably they're of some exotic, but unknown, far off location but one I saw only this week was of More London Place but much further down near the end of 'The Rill' where, in addition to the straight-ahead view of Tower Bridge, there's a view down a left alley to the Tower of London. A very nice picture with some great reflections but... not a single person! And that is most certainly NOT the London I encountered

                    Cheers,
                    John

You have some nice shots of london on your flickr looks like you also had good weather, though maybe a little cold with everybody in this shot above wearing coats lol.

Also looks like the G10 does a good job image wise.

                        Re: More London Place

                        Thanks Paul.

Yes, the G10 is an excellent camera for a compact. It replaced an earlier G2 and is my 'travelling' camera and dates from when Canon were involved in a pixel war and made this model so they could boast 14.7mp which does give decent detail but at the expense of grain in low light - the perfect companion to my 7D then IIRC the G11 had a more reasonable 12mp.

I've had this one a while now and it's beginning to complain about the abuse it receives (getting stuffed into dusty jacket pockets, etc.) and the lens protection curtain sticks and the zoom lever tends to go from WA to full zoom extreme to another making composition difficult so a replacement is on the cards... but just what is uncertain. although a G16 seems to fit the bill as I understand it's the last of the optical viewfinder Powershots.

It was cold in London despite the sun so it was coats weather for we mere mortals - however, the 'power suits' (boys and girls) around Canary Wharf and 'the City' were far too busy making important calls on their mobiles to feel the cold.

                        Cheers,
                        John

Nice, that's different from the usual image and works well.
Always nice to see something different.

Lovely image, John, which really pulls the eye to Tower Bridge, and great timing by you to have no-one straddling the rill along its full length.
