    Lightroom Stopped importing RAW files

I normally import directly from the camera into Lightroom. Today I needed to take some shots on my 550D and tried to load them as normal. Lightroom declared "No Images to Import".

They're there. I can import them in DPP, I can see them in a card reader, and even import them into Lightroom from the card reader or a folder into which they've been loaded via DPP.

I tried reformatting the card. Didn't solve the problem. I then switched to JPEG (I normally shoot RAW). Lightroom was quite happy to import the images as JPEGs.

My conclusion is that Lightroom has stopped supporting old versions of Canon RAW, although I last uploaded from the 550D on April 20th 2016 and I don't recall any updates to Lightroom since then.

Obviously I can work around the issue, but I'm reluctant to change an established workflow.

    Any thoughts anyone?

I should have said Lightroom is 5.7, RAW 8.7.

Have you downloaded them previously, as I have had that after I downloaded some images at work, when I got home it didn't see them and I had to use the select images to download to get them.

            Thanks Ian and Tony.

The Facebook group is a closed group, so I've clicked to join. Tony, no they were all original, not downloaded images - it seems really strange.

Re: Lightroom Stopped importing RAW files

Cracked it! Some recent system changes I'd made meant that the EOS Utility was back in the startup, so every time I connected a camera the utility fired up. I hadn't got round to removing it (though it was a PITA), I was just hitting quit and going into LR.

This was fine for the 7D, but not the 550D. As soon as I removed the EOS Utility from the startup (so it no longer fires when I plug in a camera) the problem went away. Solved!

Jeff - I force my own organisation on LR by transferring the images from my card/camera into an appropriately named and positioned folder in my image storage area on my hard drive. Only then do I import the folder into LR, thus making LR mirror my own preferred storage hierarchy.
