    Gannet flight

Despite the lousy weather during out short break in Yorkshire, we have managed a couple of half days at Bempton cliffs. This shot from Tuesday, is of probably a first or second year bird, they start off more or less completely dark and don't reach maturity for 5 years

Well captured Stan, great detail. I've a trip there scheduled for 8th June. Were you using a 300f4 and a 1.4 extender for this

yes I was, its plenty long enough for most shots and sometimes too long - for most of todays shots I was using my 70-200 and 1.4x

Thanks Stan, I'll take both of those lens and my 1.4. I've never visited Bempton before but I'm meeting up with a friend who visits most years.

Jeff, ours was just planned as a short break, travelling up on Tuesday and back today, so despite the weather we were lucky to get two reasonable visits

Not sure yet Peter, depends on SHMBO and of course weather forecasts however if the 8th is a goer may indeed see you there.

                            Cheers,

with the weather as it is at present may have to wait until the day to decide.

We woke up on Thursday to drizzle and fog which continued through till lunch. Decided to drive the 15 miles to Bempton and by the time we got there fog had cleared and some blue sky showing and we got better shots than from Tuesday
