I've been waiting for the final spec and i think this is it - 99.9%sure.

(Having a lot of thoughts about getting a used 1dx?) But I'm pleased to say I'm more than happy if these are the final specs for the camera,as 9fps would be great and enough to cover any fast moving subjects at least what i cover during the weekends, plus the 28mp is not so big an increase to cripple my computer so it will be a nice step up from the MKIII.

what I want to see is how the sensor will cope at higher ISO up against the current one - I don't like to go past 15k but would buy this straight if the sensor tests that they showed on the 1DX mk II are the same as I looked at images at 25k and they were excellent

I do wish with this camera they would split it as with the 5Ds/r as I've never turned the video on in 3 yrs on my camera and have zero interest - its just annoying to buy a camera that had so many good video features that will never get used - if people want video, buy a bloody video camera LOL

      Hi Ian

I do agree about the video stuff as i have not used that feature much on any DSLR,though i have started to use it a little when having to remember player names i just turn on the video and use it as a dictaphone saves carrying a pen and paper around

Agree Ian i think you're either one or the other i love photography and use my camera to take stills, yet my son shoots video and has no interest in using a 5D for static shots.
So maybe you get the best of both worlds as both parties seem equally at home using the camera for their own particular needs?

true I suppose, but I resent paying features I will never use hence why the S/R option was a good move

              Re: EOS 5D IV spec

Didn't the 5D or the 5D II crack open the Video market for DSLR cameras? I seem to recall all sorts of stuff like large sections of feature films being shot with the 5D range so while loads of people don't use it, it's not without it's fans or successes and I suspect sales would be hit without the feature.

I agree though, not my cup of tea and if they could reduce the cost by taking it off I'd be happy.

The original spec from Paul looks like it's hitting the action market too. With those specs it could be a possible replacement for my 7D2 if I ever were to look for one, though I 'd miss the 1.6 crop.

No video and lower list price would get my vote too. I've shot 1 video on my 7D2 and that was only to test it when on holiday. The video was played back once on the camera screen and that's it.

Only ever used video on mine once and that was last year with the kingfishers and only because I had so many static shots I thought I would try something different.had the sigma on so the combo of a heavy lens and live view made it very difficult to keep it all steady

The two things I'd like are even better hi-ISO performance and wifi....the latter being really useful for backing up as well as posting on forums/social media.

....I think the 5D2 was the first DSLR to be considered to produce 'broadcast quality' video based on the BBC's criteria.

I'm not interested in upgrading based on the above spec (especially as my 5D3 is only 16 months old) I'd prefer to avoid launch prices and upgrade next year maybe.....my priority is faster lenses at present.

Agree. Holding the camera for the odd live view shot is OK but for extended time for video? No. From what I've seen you need to use big tripods, smooth panning heads, external microphones and even external monitors to get decent footage. A completely different discipline from stills...

and if your doing all that a proper video camera would be better ... when are these camera producers going to wake up togs want stills features

I also see it has the new image processor DIGIC 7, i believe it's only used in a compact camera the G7x MKII at the moment!
(it claims the DIGIC 7 to be 14x faster than the DIGIC 6 so that should be some boost and step up from the 5D mkIII which runs on the DIGIC 5+).

I'm another one that's never used video on my DSLR, but as the sensor can natively support it, it's here to stay I'm afraid. If the rumoured specs are true, and the camera has the crop modes like the 5Ds, then I may be tempted to upgrade from the 7D Mk II. Not too happy with the proposed addition of c-fast, too damn expensive for what they are, dual UHS-II SD slots would've been better. I think wifi is a must on this camera, let's hope it appears this time round.
