    Flash bracket

Does anyone know of a suitable flash bracket similar to this, which is the Canon one at the ridiculous price of over £60 for a bit of bent metal.

I do have a more complex one that lifts the flash high above the camera, but it's very unwieldy and the whole setup is unbalanced. Even a simple straight bracket that keeps the flash at camera level would do. I want something I can carry around with me for macro shots to give a different effect from the ring flash, using the off camera cord for connection. I've tried holding the flash in my left hand, camera in right, but I need both hands on the camera to hold steady focus in macro.

Stan, I've been through Amazon but can't find anything similar, straight ones always seem a bit short, I have one but it barely gives enough room for me to squeeze my fingers between camera and flash, plus the camera tends to twist easily however tight I try to make it, mainly because only part of the camera base is supported by the bracket.

Thanks Stan. I saw this one on Amazon as well, but there are several negative reviews, usually by people using DSLRs. Here's one set of comments :
"The flashgun sways from side to side unless supported at all times by your hand - the horizontal bar attached to the bottom of my camera just bends under the weight, irrespective of whether the bar is extended or not (i.e. screwed as close as possible to the camera body, such that one can barely get one's fingers in between the camera and the vertical hand-grip).". This person is using virtually the same flash gun as me and the issues are the same as with the bracket I already have. I guess cheap may just always mean not robust, I'd be willing to pay more for a better one, but not Canon price.

Hmm, a useful link, but this is still a bit up in the air, looks unwieldy. There's another one on the same page which looks more like it, but they show it used for video. I'm never happy buying things without reviews or comments from personal use.
What I really hanker after is something like this Cobra 700AF which I used for film cameras, very comfortable to hold steady with the fat plastic support for the flash and worked very well for macro with the head facing vertically upwards into a simple reflector. Unfortunately, they never made anything similar for digital.
