    Florence

One of my birthday presents this year was a trip to Florence for MrsR and I. Had a fabulous few days. Some of my favourite images are here, there are some more on my Flickr site, and some more still to post as I continue to go through them.

We had a fabulous view of the famous skyline from our hotel; the Duomo at night (camera resting on my balcony wall as I didn't take my clunky old tripod):

It is a long way up but the views from the top of the Duomo are rather nice:

And of the Duomo from Giotto's Bell Tower (after yet more climbing):

Interior of the Basilica di Santa Croce, where Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, Machiavelli and others are buried:

And one of the Ponte Vecchio, again resting on a wall:

1and 3 are the pick but 1 seems to be leaning

Exactly my thoughts too with No.3 edging it. A glorious sky and those mountains in the background.

Nice shots, I like the view over the roof but 3 is the hands down winner overall.

Alex :- I've been looking here as well as your flickr site. This is all whetting my appetite for my trip soon (aren't spouses wonderful?!)

I love the rich colours and very defined stonework. Agree with the majority here that 1 & 3 the pick but I'm drawn to number 3 with the curious verticals - from your perspective rather than camera tilt- and the lovely hills in the distance.

With both night shots and interiors you did well without your tripod .
Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......

Lovely set Alex. Brings back a lot of memories. If there is a lean on number 1, it is no more than I would expect for such a building in Italy! I look forward to seeing more!

That Duomo entrance on Flickr is gorgeous. It is crying out for a slightly earlier evening with a blue hour dark blue sky (easier said than done when we are travelling with others!!!) but as it stands it is, as I say, gorgeous!!!

***I have just looked again and seen it was on a 7D at ISO1600: respect for keeping the noise so beautifully under control!***
