    Cockwood Marsh

I posted some images recently of the sun setting over the small harbour of Cockwood. This five image stitch, taken this evening, is what's on the other side of the road:

Went to Flickr to view this. Looks better on there, maybe a slight lift of the shadows? Not sure if it's the view but looks like a bit of a clockwise rotation is needed.

      Thanks Ant, appreciate the comments

I deliberately kept it dark and moody (even to the extent of adding a slight vignette) as I didn't want anything of second nature detracting from the sky and reflection but am happy to hear opinions on whether I've over done it The level I took from the telegraph pole just left of centre.

      Cheers,

Nice scene John and pleasing composition. Not sure about C/W rotation, buildings look about vertical I think the leaning branches RHS are giving the illusion of not being level. But, I may well be wrong.
Still, a nice shot with good reflection of the sky and clouds.

            Nice scene.

It's tempting to lift the shadows on this type of shot and overdo it to the extent that it becomes unnatural. It's a delicate balance.

The key features that draw the eye are the sky and reflection, intention achieved, the one thing I'd be tempted to try is to lift the light on the grass a little to connect the sky to the reflection.

OK folks, you have spoken and I have listened Here's a new version with the shadows slightly lifted and I even gave it a tiny nudge clockwise:

                        Re: Cockwood Marsh

I think the first is a lovely photograph. I know there are at least two schools of thought here about late afternoon/early evening shots. My personal view is that dark shadows are truly reflective of what we are seeing and with those lovely highlights and clouds both in the sky and in the reflection, that is where the beauty of the shot lies.

                        Just my thoughts!!!

Thanks Richard I agree which is why I processed it in the way I did. I suppose I should have toughed it out and left it alone - next time, next time
