Do we have a Malware problem with this site?

When I accessed the forum this morning, 'Chrome' blocked the page and flagged up the following message screen:

Its seems that it only occurs when I open this 'thread'.

So it must be contained within it.

fine here and I have my filters set high - have you ran a scan on your system?

I don't use Chrome so can't test it with that but if there was a problem Firefox would pick it up

I have MacAfee and Malware Bytes running on all of my PCs, so I suspect that the suspect link lays within one of the responses to the 'thread'.

It could be that a member's PC has been compromised, and the malware link brought in with their post.

I have 'flagged' the issue up to Robert Scott, via PM.

It may or may not be nothing, but 'Chrome' seems to think there is a concealed problem.

I'd urge anyone that's not using chrome to not click that forum thread. The site has been flagged by Google with this report.

Malicious software includes 9 scripting exploit(s)

Most likely browser hacks. I'd just ignore the thread or have it deleted all together.

you have a god point Dave as I did drop someone a PM in that thread as his site was showing an infection - maybe Chrome follows links from threads, which when you think about it is daft as your not clicking that link - but there again thats Google for you !!

Just run a Malware Bytes scan, and it found the following Malware: PUP.Optional.Babylon.A

It wasn't there yesterday, so it was picked up today.

It won't because it's not virus code. Virus code is just code telling your computer to do something it shouldn't, like delete a system folder or replicate a process loads of times to use up all the RAM. Malware code is something that has far too many annoying potential headaches.

Chromes malware engine is extremely good at recognising this type of thing. IE is totally hopeless, not just as a browser but as a front end security medium. There's still more security holes in IE than there's ever been.

Malware Bytes has already been mentioned, and I'd advise to run it just to show how much is on folks computers.

Malware takes many forms, however, most of the time it's used to hive data from the machine. In the worst case I ever saw, it was dormant until the user hit their banking website. It then woke up and started taking screen shots of the user putting in the login credentials, and also starting to take notes of the keystrokes to get the password. All info was being sent over the net to a private server, screen shots and txt files of all the ASCII codes from the key presses. Fire that into a wee bit of software and you have exactly what the person typed on the keyboard.

Naturally security has got better with banking, with the "insert the 1st, 4rth and 5th letters of your passcode" however, it only takes a few times for that to be cycled and you have the whole passcode.

It's pretty scary stuff. That's why this stuff should be higher on the security agenda for folk than viruses.

agree I was with a friend at the weekend that was moaning about his laptop running slow, when I asked him about running checks for malware he looked at me blankly - over 1200 infected files were found... funny his laptop runs fine now!

Endpoint Threat protection set to high level IIRC. They are paranoid about security so would have expected some reaction, just checked logs and nothing reported.

As I said ran same thread in Chrome and didn't get anything. Beginning to think company setup has filtered out at some point and not getting to me.
