    charging

I was wondering if any of the eos cameras can be charged out in the field using a powerbank which is used for everything these days.

There are USB chargers available for Canon batteries - I use them on hols (or at least I did) since they are smaller and lighter than the mains units.

Take a look at the EOS Magazine shop - https://www.eos-magazine-shop.com/tr...er-c2x23292460

I never bother about charging while out, never take enough pictures to run a battery down - still work on the film principal, every shot must count However always got a spare battery in the car or attached to the camera strap in a battery holder.

I'm always quite surprised by how long a battery lasts. I probably recharge them about once a fortnight and I've always got a spare. If I went on a fortnight's holiday I'd probably take my charger as well.

On sage advice when I purchasing my 5D I also purchased a spare battery which I charge and take with me when out photographing ( so that is not happening!) and that works for me.
This more than lasts for the pics I take.

I’ve not had the need for a power bank and can’t see this changing.

I’ve seen an article this morning which may help but I’ve not been able to copy the link on my iPad!!

it was published on 9th Dec 2020

Your post made me smile, I still take pictures like I was using film, true I do delete as I go if they are real bad or I made a bad setting..... But I did laugh at someone on the Facebook group I belong to who said he often takes 5,000 shots when he goes out on a shoot.

I'm surprised he got time to go out, he must spend most of his time sitting at the computer processing them. This is one reason I don't take hundreds, having to process them - I would get bored.

If I am traveling in my vehicle, I carry a power inverter that connects to the cigar lighter socket. Also I have found that before going out I put my second battery on a 20minuite charge (re-charge).

I too am from a film background. However, your post reminded me of a time a few years ago when at a heron rookery. There was nothing happening and most photographers were waiting for the light as it was mid-afternoon. Except for one guy who was firing away like there was no tomorrow. I wandered round behind him to see what he was photographing and it was a totally static great blue heron (Florida) and he must have taken well over 100 shots of this bird in quite harsh light. I'm sure some people become seduced by the sound of the shutter.

As for battery chargers, I too find they last long enough for a days shoot, though I generally carry a spare, except for my 1DX, which lasts ages. When travelling abroad (now a distant memory) I take chargers with me, though I wish Canon would bring out a 1D charger for just one battery to save a bit of space.

I've got one but if you are not careful they can drain the battery, from someone who knows - God bless the RAC!!!
