    Best practice for filters

    I have had a skylight or 1B filter on my lenses for years. Is this best practice unless one is changing it for another requirement such as polarisation? I am asking having just upgraded to a RF 24-105 f4 L IS.
    Any comments would be appreciated.

    It gives protection to the lens if nothing else, likewise I got filters on all my lens other that the large telephoto's

      Yes I agree...for protection only. Although you can always get a front element replacement if damaged...always cheaper to replace a filter.
      the RF 24-105 is excellent its worth protecting.
