2 Different Single Point AF?

What is the difference between the Single-point Spot AF and Single-Point AF on the 5D MK3?

Should I use one of these (if so, which one) for animals at the Zoo (when reopen)?

From my days with my MkIII, I think that you will find that the single point spot is a much smaller focus point than the normal single point. The point of it is that it enables you to point focus on a subject where it may be partially obscured, say behind grass, branches or the like, and the normal single point would be too large. It is quite a useful feature and did get used. You may find it of benefit in a zoo!

The central focus point is double cross type and therefore more sensitive/accurate. Choosing a single point allows you select the position of the focus point (points as you can have different ones for landscape and portrait mode). you need to remember that not all focus points are cross type and that it is preferable to select these if possible.
