    Sience or Art

There is more and more emphasis in magazines and on the internet, with the technology and the tricks and abilities of cameras and lenses. More and more I am growing bored with the whole thing. Photography is, in my opinion about art not science. A good friend of mine was a scientific photographer and that is where precise acrurate photography is important. I am looking to create pleasing images. The cameras I own can do all sorts of tricks, most of which are designed to take over the heavy lifting of the photographic process. For me this is a shame. I enjoy the skill required to take a picture and get far less satisfaction from the process if the camera is doing all the work. On my R6 I use full manual for everything except focussing. The reason for this is that I enjoy creating an image that is mine, not the cameras.
Many of the most iconic photographs were taken without all the modern aids.

I also agree but as a you are a professional photographer a lot of your images most be post processed, isn’t that the app doing the work?

Firstly, I am not a professional photographer I am a retired IT manager. Secondly, I use photoshop creatively to make art from a picture. The process is very often complex and requires a high level of skill. Having said that, the majority of pictures I have posted on this site have had virtually no editing other than cropping and the removal of the odd blemish from my models faces.

This is an example of a Photoshop edit, 3 images blended together all taken by me and the edit entirely done by me. This is what I use photoshop for. My portraits are created in the studio using lighting and camera techniques and don't require any post processing other than perhaps a crop or blemish removal (something the models ask for).

            Might the model be Olivia?

Nice piece of editing but I've spotted one small issue... you've forgotten to match the space within the trigger guard to the background - being almost central in the picture it does stand out a bit...

Well spotted! Actually, I realise now that I uploaded the wrong version of the image as I had spotted that myself and fixed it in another version.
