    Old dog, new tricks.

I used to do a fair bit of photography in the film days with an Edixa SLR. I was ever only a hobby photographer but got reasonably competent as I was using an external meter and manual focusing ,so I had to understand some of the basics. It wasn't just press the button and let the camera do all the work in those days..

Since the digital revolution I have dabbled with compacts but not done anything serious. My wife was the serious photorapher and had several Canon cameras and was a member of this forum (Sturnus). When she died last year I kept her 5D camera and I am now starting to try and learn my way around it. I will probably not be very active in the forum but come along when I have problems to get advice from those with more experience.

Hello and welcome. I too came to photography by way of my late wife way back in the 70s when she told me to "get yourself a hobby". She has been gone almost 30 years now but my love of photography has never waivered. You will like it here, I am also quite new but have been made to feel welcome. Regards, Ian W.
