    Another new to Canon

    Hi
    Another new to Canon here.✋
Started out dipping my toe in and out of photography since the mid 70s with a Zenit B then a Pentax,MG ended up with a Nikon F80 for several then years moved on to a Nikon D70 about 15 years ago but then fell out of love with photography as career left no time for a hobby.
Then took early retirement and a while ago started putting money to one side for a decent full suspension mountain bike. A surprise health issue knocked that idea on the head and around that time a friend loaned me his 80D and I took to it like a duck to water. I couldn't believe the difference canon ergonomics and button lay out made. I just didn't want to put it down. With the bike money burning a hole in my pocket after much research I sprung for a 90D with a 18-135 and 10-18 wide angle.
I've spent the last month falling in love with photography all over again.

Welcome to the forum, it’s a knowledgeable and friendly group.
I purchased my canon a year ago and absolutely love it - still trying to find out how to use it!

Welcome to the forum Steve. You followed a similar path to me. I started with a Zenit 3M in the late 60's, sold it in the 70's and played sport for a few years. In the 80's bought a Pentax P30, then an LX, which was a brilliant camera, before taking the plunge into autofocus with Canon.

            Fun times though eh Brian.
I was showing my daughter around the 90D the other day and told her about how it was with film. Had a root around a couple of boxes in the loft and found an old note book I'd used to keep a log of my settings for each shot on each roll of film. Film speed, Ap setting Shutter speed exposure compensation etc for each frame to try to see what worked and what didnt. Of course as i didnt process my own film or use a full role at a time, it was often weeks between the shot and seeing the results. Without my note book i wouldnt have a clue what I had done right or wrong.
In a world where all she's ever known is take a shot on her phone, sees what works or doesnt, adjusts her settings and takes it again until its right, she was laughing at what we did pre digital.
It made me feel like we used to put a blanket over our heads while we took the shot.

Ahh, the days of film. Does seem quite antiquated now.

Like others had loads of different cameras including 110 and 126 film stuff. Had a Zorki 4 which was a fantastic camera. Then a Zenith E, still have it on display on a bookcase.

Then progressed to Olympus OM kit. Was into bird photography then and remember going to Orkney with loads and loads of rolls of slide film. Then waiting for them to be processed when I got back.

A family meant my interest was paused for 25+ years! Apart from having a Canon S20 for trips to Florida, all of 2.1mp. Then when retirement loomed bought a 60D and my interest was fired up again. Few more bodies and lenses added of course.

Sadly due to Covid and some other events I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to take the camera out.
