    More Money Than Skill

    Hello everyone,

I just joined up today. I've been a Canon shooter since the late 1990s, and currently, I'm shooting with two Canon R5's, and a big mix of EF and RF lenses. I love travel photography, as well as available-light portraiture and I love taking flashed portraits with studio lighting, and Canon E-TTL flashing. I prefer the fastest glass available for the mount, as I am a bokeh whore.

Although I have been shooting for decades, I consider myself first, and foremost a camera operator (sadly), and I know how to use and set up the camera and kit like a pro, however, my challenge is composition. For me, composing is the hardest part of photography. Still, on rare occasions, I do get lucky and I occasionally produce art.

So yes, I appear to have more money than skill, but maybe one day I will raise my photography to a higher level. Until, then I love buying the latest RF bodies, and lenses...handling them is a fetish, and I cannot help myself.

So I'm here to learn from you, discuss, and exchange ideas and opinions.

    Best regards,
    Dan

Many years back I ran a local camera club. One member always got the latest kit. Soon got bored when next new thing came along and he had to have it. Quite a few members got some nice kit at cheap prices as he sold off stuff.

              Hello Dan and welcome.

"It ain't what you got it's the way that you use it" !!

There are some simple rules to composition which might be a good place to start........ or of course you can ignore them which is also fashionable!

So I think give us some images to look at . There is a tiny one of your missus under a brolly- you would be advised to get a flickr account to display better on here
Then tell us why you're you're not happy with an image and this friendly knowledgeable bunch will help all you want

Also try to enter the photo challenges and the monthly themes. You will find gently pushing yourself to be a means to progress

We all make this journey, none of us started out with experience!
Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......
