    Ian's new camera

Hi everyone, at last bought a Canon EOS M6. First thoughts, it's fantastic can not wait to get past the learning stage and into the clic, clic, click stage. It will be difficult though as I am disabled. My head and neck nods backwards and forwards. Tell you more later.

Hi Ian, good to hear you are up and running with the new camera. I spend a lot of time with a young lad that is confined to a wheelchair, I gave him my old 100-400mm lens to give him a bit more reach. Despite his disabilities he take some very acceptable pictures. Look forward to seeing some of yours.

Great, Determination a good positive approach. I have close contact with a lot of Ex military personal, several having lost three limbs, it always amazes me just what they achieve.

Ian bit late in greeting you but welcome, I saw a guy in a wheelchair with a tripod and a release cable taking shots the other day, would that be a solution for you? Just a thought. Dave

Ian, coming back on this one again and David's mention of a tripod. The young lad that I help out as I mentioned previously is confined to a wheelchair. I fitted him with a tripod that he can use from the wheelchair. I fitted two small brackets to the inside of each footrest, Two legs of the tripod I fixed so they are at a permanent length. each leg sits into the brackets on the footrest. The third leg I cut off a few inches from the top and fitted a 20mm 45 degree copper elbow to it with liquid metal. The piece of leg I cut off I again fixed to a permanent length and slotted it into the copper elbow, I fitted another small bracket to the upright of the armrest to which this third legs fits. When not in use it still folds up the third leg being just a loose fit in the copper elbow can be pulled out.
It's completely ridged when in use, also I fitted a Manfrotto 486 ball socket to the tripod.
Hope this may be of some help.

Ian, welcome from me. Others have hopefully been able to offer suggestions on using your camera, sorry I can’t add to that.

it is very exciting to get a new camera or equipment and I wish you joy in getting to know it - and I look forward to seeing your pics.

Thank you every one. I' like all of your comments and idea's, taking off a tripods leg to lean on wheelchair is what
I will do. Wheelchair is taken from my PIP ( Personal independence payment ).
