Hi
Why are we prepared to accept the pathetic battery performance from Canon cameras? Summarised as:
Massively overpriced. I have non Canon R5 batteries at 25% of the price of originals and after 2 years the difference is indistinguishable.
I can charge the massive battery in my laptop and mobile phone from zero to 100% in an hour. Why does it take 5 hours+ to charge the little Canon batteries?
Related to the above; why no USB C high speed charging?
Ooooh although you can charge the battery in situ with a USB C (including a battery pack), it only works if the camera is switched off. Great idea; who at Canon thought it would be a good idea for their cameras to not work whilst charging?
None of this would matter much if we didn't need a box full of batteries for a day out. On a cool day in England (0 - 5 degrees) a warm battery from my pocket will do about 150 shots. This is with everything set to battery save (so plenty of bird activity missed whilst the camera slowly comes to life) except I do always use the viewfinder.
Lets not forget that the R3 was designed to use different batteries from the R5. Surely there isn't a reason a common battery pack won't work in every Canon? Who could ever believe that a major corporation would try to rip off its dedicated and loyal users?
I am interested to hear what others think.
Thanks
Ron
