    Pleased with myself today.

I'm looking for a pat on the back. I've had a working day in the garden/scrub, and on telling Mrs B what I had achieved the comment was - "about time you did that instead of running around up there with the camera".
I decided this morning to flail half a acre of gorse, bramble, bracken etc in the lower part of the wood - for no other reason than when I took the picture of the Greenfinch I tripped and went head first into a gorse bush. Below is the fruits of my labour. You can see one of my hides to the left of the picture behind a small Silver Brich tree

This area known as the scrub. I flailed three years ago, quite productive now for small birds - Dartfords, Stonechat etc. and butterflies.

Not content in flailing the wood, I started to log up this Sweet Chestnut tree that came down a month or so ago in the storms. - got to think of next winters log supply!

They will dry out nicely here, ready to be moved to the log shed later

Good work Trev, that’s quite some amount of ground that you have there.

          You put me to shame!

All I have managed on this first day of lockdown is power wash to patio.

Lot of hard work carried out Trev, well done you. Pity we are so far apart, I would have loved doing that & you could have paid me in wood.

Now come on Colin, I'm sure Mrs C like Mrs B will have no end of jobs up their sleeves that we will be expected to undertake.

Thanks everyone, I got a load of project in my head that I may put into practice both in the woodland and scrub. The problem is someone else has got a load of projects in her head that I will be expected to do.

Good work Trev - if there is a list, just remember never to actually finish it - if you do, the next list appears!

BTW, what tractor do you have? We have a couple of grey Fergies, but they would not be powerful enough to run much of a flail.

John, I don't use the tractor, bit awkward in and around the trees, plus churns everything up to much. I got a Jansen AT120 15HP Flail that I tow behind the ATV (Quad Bike) for jobs like this, no complaints with it does the job a treat as you can see.

Friend of mine who is now off work for the foreseeable future got a 1.8 ton JCB Excavator which I'm thinking of buying , although not mentioned it to Mrs B yet, need to pick the right time.. With the idea of digging another pond, this would keep me happy for hours up there, be like a child with a new toy now I'm confined to barracks.
