    Raptor Persecution

When I read of instances like that in this report make me very angry, I just don't understand why the estate/landowners/gamekeepers need to carry out these atrocities.
It isn't just restricted to Scotland it happens everywhere there are managed grouse shooting.
I hope the perpetrators are brought to justice. In the meantime I hope they can't sh*te till I tell them to!

Saw this, until the perpetrators are given decent fines or sentences it will carry on.

I suspect it's the gamekeepers but I could be wrong. Sadly I doubt fines would stop them David. IMO the owners of the estates should be held responsible for the misguided actions of their employees.
The eagles were there before the grouse

Quite agree Peter. Problem is Grouse shooting generates vast sums of money for the landowners, and yes, it's they that should be held accountable, but that don't mean an employee should not be held accountable to.

Despicable behaviour, trouble is the punishment is too lenient as is the case for many crimes.

There is some very vague talk of introducing a licence system and if the estates brake the law they will lose their licence, trouble is just like the gun lobby in the USA, the estate owners seem to hold a lot of power over the politicians, I doubt I will see it in my lifetime sadly. Go to an area where there's no Grouse shooting and the land is alive, go to a Grouse moor and it's a green and purple desert. I'm no tree hugging liberal, I was a falconer, I used to be a shooter, still have a licensed rifle, but I know you cannot rape the land just for monoculture, be it Red Grouse or anything else, harmonious balance or it will go belly up.

Can't really add anything except to say I agree with all the other comments. What sort of world are we going to leave for our children and grandchildren?
