    In need of TLC

We are engaged in renovating our spiral stairs - definitely in need of a bit of TLC - mind you, if I look this reasonable at 400 years old, I shan't complain!

I don't think we will be seeing much of you on the Forum for a few months John - unless you post progress shots. What a challenge, I love anything like that, look forward to seeing your progress.

Don't worry chaps - we are not going to do a full remove and rebuild of the stairs!

There will be some making good to be done on the stair treads & risers before they are re-carpeted, but the main task is to remove and replace the totally inappropriate modern non-breathable paint which the previous owner applied to the walls. We may also remove some of the modern gypsum plaster and replace it with the lime plaster that ought to be there. These stairs have suffered with a bit of damp in the past and the modern materials which have been used have exacerbated the problem.

Oh the joys of living in an old building!
