TIFF v JPEG (From the Q&A section)

While the answer given is absolutely correct I do think a bit of further information might be useful. People are often confused by the options available for TIFF files.
    These are:
    8 bit uncompressed
    8 Bit ZIP Compression
    8 bit LZW Compression
    16 bit uncompressed
    16 Bit ZIP Compression
    16 bit LZW Compression

A RAW file of size 25.7 mb will convert as follows
    8 Bit Uncompressed - 60.3 mb
    8 Bit ZIP Compression - 21.5 mb
    8 Bit LZW - 22.1 mb
    16 bit uncompressed - 120.4 mb
    16 bit ZIP Compression - 92.6 mb
    16 Bit LZW Compression - 123.2 mb

As you can see the conversion without compression will produce huge files and note that LZW actually increases file size for 16 bit files.

Other file formats are as follows
PSD file (Flattened) - 60.1 mb
    DNG file - 21.8 mb
JPEG (Max quality) - 11.7 mb

I'm not sure if this helps at all. My solution to the problem is simple 6 TB of disc on my PC and ruthless weeding of my pictures. Thankfully disc is cheap.
