    A small forest waterfall

Yesterday, along with a good friend we took our cameras into a local forested area and came across this small waterfall.

Lovely pics Ian, looks like you had a good walk. I like the exposure, it just shows the water movement nicely, the only thing I would say is that for me, I’d raise the shadow areas very slightly to show the rock formations a little better. I think I like the first best.

The first picture is the most appealing aesthetically for me because the principal element, the water, is what draws the eye as does the reflected light from the wet rocks. The hint of light at the top of the waterfall and on the rocks in the foreground gives the impression that the waterfall is drawing the light down into the darkness.

That's my arty thought for the day, a picture should have a narrative.

                Lifting the shadows definitely helps.
