    Torbay Drama

Not long after sunrise the clouds gathered to produce this dramatic scene. I underexposed a couple of stops and made a few tweaks in Luminar AI to maximise the drama without burning out the highlights.

Wow this is a great shot, John! How do you like Luminar AI? I have been considering buying it.

Thanks folks. There was a bit of exposure and PP tweaking involved to maximise the drama and I know some here aren't comfortable with that but the positive comments are enough to convince me that it's generally acceptable.

Kevin: I've used Skylum products since Aurora HDR became available for the PC and it is my favoured HDR processor. That led me via Luminar (now v4) to Luminar AI which I use mainly for some of the templates and the occasional sky replacement (you can add your own to those provided so it's not really cheating ). The tools in AI are good (albeit slow to respond and I have a fast PC with SSD and lots of RAM) and probably enough to meet your needs but I still bring an image back to Lightroom for final polishing and export. Starting and ending my workflow in LR keeps everything together (the long anticipated cataloguing provided by Luminar was so poor that I soon disabled it).

The new Luminar 'Neo' is in final testing and will have some extra bells and whistles but will it consolidate all the tools in the other Luminar products? I doubt it and if all it offers that is different to AI is automatic removal of powerlines, I don't see myself using it.

                              Cheers,
                              John
