Re-visit Sri Lanka ( 2013) after 10 years- Fond memories

All pics taken with my Canon G7 compact. ISO 100, Auto. I visited the land of my birth after the end of the civil war and noticed that there has been some big changes and not some big changes esp with the signal man waving a red flag to warn of approaching trains!!! All pics taken against the backdrop of the mighty Indian Oceam which surrounds the island. So where ever you see the sea, please note that it is the Indian ocean.

    (i) Fishing boat being "berthed" by 2 fisherman

(ii) Playing cricket on the sea beach- agile fielder catches the ball

    (iii) Swimming in the sea

    (iv) King coconuts for sale

    (v) The mighty Indian ocean framed by coconuts trees

(vi) Keep off the train tracks- train approaching.

The former Governor General's residence when Sri Lanka was a Crown Colony. Now it is the grand Mount Lavinia Hotel, where I stayed.

Thanks Tom,Ian and Stephen for taking a look at the pics. Yes, I did have a good time but it was difficult with the heat and humidity- case of having a shower 3 -4 times a day!! Case of getting used to the weather.

Nice set of images Nat, they tell stories, I like the first one and the Coconuts ones best.

The swimming in the Sea is well composed also with good positioning, just needs a bit of horizon straightening.

              Regards Paul

What a pleasing set of images Nat (although your horizons are a bit wonky ) , and I'm sure will bring back some fond memories.

Thank you Les and Ian. Yes, I forgot to reflect on the horizons when I pressed the shutter- but I will "correct" it in PSE before filing the pics.Ian a good cricket,Lord Tebbit question. Not at all difficult to answer- the reason why I am in UK having been forced out of the island, should give you the answer. However, it was brilliant batting by Kumar.S which sealed England's fate.
