    Main Square ...yep

I desperately tried to get my verticals right here and nearly did it - I did consider a crop but I liked the way the trees either side framed it ? and YES that stage did spoil the shot. You may remember thats where did the jazz show photos, given a choice of not taking the live photos and having a clear sight of the building I would have not taking the live photos - but nothing you could do about that and my PS skills would never allow me to loose the stage

This is another view, not sure which I prefer - again used the trees to frame it

I actually prefer the 1st image Ian as the two side buildings help in framing the main building. Nicely done

cheers Tom - Its my preference, I just have to stop staring at the dam stage when I look at the image, for me its a near miss because of that

Cheers Ian. It was only a quick job so all done with the trusty clone stamp tool. Give more time I would have made a selection of the area using the pen tool and then cloned within that area, possibly using layers and masks as well.

Not enough info in the one full window to clone accurately but it came out ok.

Ian, both nice shots and each with something to commend them. Overall I prefer the first as I like the composition better with the leading in of the side buildings, which of course also give a better impression of the square. Also a lovely sky. In the second, the people and stage are less intrusive. But Alan has done a really nice job showing what could be done. But now I'm going to be contrary and say that it looks odd because you wonder why there's no-one standing in that part of the square. But maybe that is just because I know there was once a stage there, and you can't un-know what you know.

I can see I need to return to that image and have another look if thats what you can do with a quick job on a compressed Jpeg - cheers for that

Thanks Alex - The first is the stronger one I agree and was lucky with a sky as a storm was trying to come in that night but didn't but gave me some nice clouds.. After seeing Alans great edit I'm going to have a go and will probably loose some of the people at same time so hopefully won;t look odd with the empty space, this is of course assuming I can match Alans editing skills, otherwise it stays the way it is
