Did I hear that it is nearly finished Ian? Nice pictures, do they mind you laying on the floor for the first one?

yep nearly finished, only another 20 yrs ;) assuming its still standing as they have huge problems with subsidence and on the front theres some large cracks with monitoring strips all over the building ..

LOL...no laying down just stood up for that shot

Ugly?? I thought it beautiful and filled with gorgeous light! But maybe it wasn't dark and grungy, which is how you like your cathedrals. Nice vertical image though. Did you go up either of the facades in the end?

inside was interesting but didn't blow me away, outside just ugly, but maybe thats because I enjoy the more gothic looking "traditional" churches

nope didn't go up - just didn't do anything or had the interest

Hi Ian, knowing you have been to Barca recently I was awaiting these wondering how you would deal with it, as we all know you make amazing images of the gothic cathedrals. Would I be right in saying you didn't ... connect with this one. Shame, although I seem to remember not being able to "get it" either when we visited. Of the 2 you have posted, I prefer the first one, not sure about the PP on the second one.

I've got about 30 photos ( most brackets) inside and I may return later, its just for me it was a mass of light and no real shades and tones if you understand what I mean - where as gothic cathedrals off a huge amount of contrast in colours and tones, you'll get more of an idea with the next image Im working on ....sexy and dark ;o)

The second, yes totally agree, but it was just to show the "thing";o)... but in my defence it was grey and flat and I wished I had that blue sky !!

I'm sorry, but I really don't like the processing on these, especially the second. HDR for me has to be subtle so that it enhances detail without you noticing it's there and the replaced sky looks completely out of place. Even on the first, it seems to owe more to Disney than to Gaudi.

Sorry, I don't usually weigh in with criticism.

Sorry you were underwhelmed by la Sagrada Familia!

Despite soaring pillars, rainbow of stained glass and a feeling of awe when you walk in, it didn't do it for you? Fair enough, each to their own and to be fair when there's thousands of visitors, tile cutting noises and shrouded areas to protect from ongoing works, it kind of takes the shine off things.

Ah well, at least you've seen it now

Not keen on your exterior shot, rather over-egged on the colours!
