    The Lighthouse

I wanted to try and get a different viewpoint on this rather than just standing in front of the lighthouse - I was able to get higher viewpoint and with a bit of guess work got this by holding the camera over an edge and clicking, took a few attempts

and yes I planned & waited for the boat

Nice one, definitely agree, the boat adds an important component to the composition.
How are you finding the Canon's 11-24mm Ian?

              Re: The Lighthouse

              thanks Les

its a stunning lens the DoF even when wide open is stunning - the IS has let me take handheld shots at 1/15, although was leaning against a wall for support -

the downside is its weight, front lens element, no real option for any filters and lens flares.. On a heavy FF camera its a lump to carry around for a while and with most of my use being around little villages end up carrying it for hours. The front element the way it bows outward does mean when your walking around the large lens can needs to be used and can just about fit into a pocket when removed, if I don't use the lens cap I get very paranoid when walking past anything catching the lens. No filters, which is a PIR as there has been times I would like to use a stopper, but I'm not about to invest in another filter system just for one lens.. last Lens flares being so wide you really have to watch where your pointing it

Having said all that I've got images on my last trip I could never have got, even putting my 16-35 on and yes tried.. Its well worth the investment

Great light and composition. 11mm really does play hell with perspective though!

                    thanks Peter & Sid

considering the angle I knew the perspective would be all over the place so didn't worry about it

Nice subject matter, sky, composition and tones (and boat) but it does suffer from that 'Google Streetview' perspective which, I'm sorry to say, spoils what could have been a stunner

                      Cheers,

I do have a "normal" view of this building, but I wanted to try something different - I thought it worked quite well but we don't all like the same things and life would be pretty dull if we did

I will be processing and posting it later on
