When we were in Spain last week, SWMBO & I decided to visit a local nature trail/park/conservation area in Pinar de Campoverde.
It runs along the bed of a river, which is almost always dry (hence the name, although it has clearly had considerable flows in the past). There are some areas where water seeps out of the ground and bamboo grows, but it is largely dry and arid.
There are a few places where the rock has been eroded into odd formations by the former flow, creating a dramatic canyon, as seen below.
I took a 3-shot HDR set of this scene, but in the end decided just to adjust the "normal" exposure image - the HDR seemed over-uniformly bright and I preferred the shadow of the canyon wall to be more obvious.
