    Caravaca de la cruz

On the 2nd of May each year, the townspeople of Caravaca de la cruz in Spain celebrate the "Running of the Wine Horses" which involves dressing the horses in quite incredible costumes and then racing them up a short steep hill. Each horse has 4 men holding onto ropes attached to the harness and to qualify as an officially accepted run, all 4 must still be hanging on at the finish line. This is not always the case! The horses are paraded through the town before the racing and this is when this image was taken.

We could not stay for the actual race, but want to go back to see it (there are videos of the racing on YouTube).

    Well worth a visit.

Thanks John for sharing this image and show us how other cultures have their unique celebrations.
