    Down Street - Abandoned Tube Station

    As part of the Hidden London series from the London Transport Museum I went on a tour of the old abandoned tube station at Down Street. After a very short operation life it was briefly abandoned before getting a new lease of life during WW2 as the headquarters for the Railways Executive Committee, after which it it fell into decay again and serves now only as ventilation for the Piccadilly Line.

    In some areas it was extremely dark so the ISO was cranked right up, but the 5DIII coped pretty well.

    Too right I was interested as I've always hankered after exploring these disused stations so went straight to Flickr and wasn't disappointed as they're stunning and interesting in equal measures. Very good work indeed

              excellent work Andy - just goes to show how good the camera and that lens is, why it gets a bad rep is beyond me

                Thanks very much John, Bill, Peter, Brian, Tom and Ian. I really appreciate the comments.

                And I agree Ian, considering it was far from ideal conditions the 24-105mm performed well, yes I had noise on some images but these were up at high ISO. I'd have like to use my 70-200mm but I knew I'd need a wider lens.

                      This is an excellent set, plenty of variety to retain interest.

                              Very impressive stuff indeed

                              I do like seeing abandoned stuff in various degrees of decay, very atmospheric .
