    Swan Upping on River Thames

Swan Upping is the annual census of the swan population on the River Thames. Saw it for the first time recently and took a few photos. Interesting pageant and not easy to get a good view point due to the crowds. These were taken near the lock at Benson, near Wallingford. Those in red are the Royal Swan Uppers. They catch the cygnets, check them for health, ring them and release back to the parents.
