Thanks Stan I know that it won't give me any where near the results that a dedicated macro lens would but I'm fairly happy and can't wait til the dragonfly's come out again

as you know I rarely use my macro for dragons or butterflies, much prefer the greater working distance with either my 300 f4 or with the 1.4 converter

Very good result for a non dedicated macro.

There was another shot there - if you had focussed on the water drop below, it would have shown an inverted shot of the whole landscape. Well worth considering in the future.

Thanks Colin I will bear that in mind that is a great idea.

Stan with the lens set at macro I will only be taking shots of dragonflies while they are resting or butterflies as well.

One thing is for sure with lens I need loads of light so if anyone can have a word with him upstairs about some more bright days I would be grateful that said though these are the tools I have so will happily use them as best I can.

Macro work fascinates me. It's a world we rarely encounter. Good result there Paul.

Came back to add, that I took my first ever dragonfly shot with my 55-250 and you could always consider adding some extension tubes at a later date.
