    Macro Water Droplets

I re-discovered this image whilst cleaning up my HDD and removing rubbish to reclaim some much needed disk space (needless to say, this image wasn't consigned to the bin).

I have to confess that all is not what it seems with this image.
This image was taken using my EF 100mm f/8 macro lens with a reversed nifty-fifty attached to the filter thread using a coupling ring.

According to the EXIF info, each exposure was 8 seconds @ f/11

The image here consists of a composite of about 12 images, each with a slightly different point of focus, that were combined using the CombineZM stacking software.

This gives a much greater depth of field that can typically be achieved with the macro lens alone, and it is commonly used by those who are fortunate enough to own the MP-E65 1-5x macro lens.

I hope I haven't broken any rules by posting a stacked image here, apologies if I have.

      Sorry Joanne,
      Thanks for your comments.

Basically you take a number of photos, the first focussing on the nearest part of the subject, then re-focus slightly further back for the next image, and re-focus slightly further back again for the next one, etc, etc.
Then the software merges all of the sharpest parts of each photo into one image.

Hope thats a bit clearer and sorry to havelost you in the techno-babble.

No rules broken at all and it's a great example of focus stacking.
