New owner of 7D stuck on sneding video files to PowerDiredtor

I am sorry if this is old hat but I have just purchased a 7D and have just taken delivery of PowerDirector. I can play my video files using a player such as VLC media player but when I try to import them to PowerDirector I get an error message and the import terminates. Does anyone have any pointers?

I have solved this problem by removing all previous video editing s/w and reinstalling.

I am glad you resolved this and many thanks for supplying the solution.

I assume you didn't get a response, because nobody else here is using PowerDirector, but your solution could help other members in the future.
