Canon EOS 600D - Old bones, new ball ...

Filmed with my new Canon EOS 600D.

Walking with my dog Kia on Strensall common today. She's a 12 year old Labrador Retriever who has had a very happy life, but is sadly is now feeling the effects of old age.

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Really good, contented looking pooch too. Can I ask what settings you used? - I have only dabbled with my 600D and not found video too easy. Did you use a tripod?, how did you set up?

Hope that is not too many questions

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but I just turned the dial to the movie mode and used that as it was. The video looks a little lighter on one section as the camera picked up more sunlight, my fault. I didn't use a tripod btw, just hand held.
I shot some 'walking' footage too, but my movement was much more noticable on playback so that was discarded.

I have a question too, once you start taking video, is it still possible to adjust the focus? I thought I'd read that you half press the button and the focus will adjust, I did try that but I didn't notice the focus changing. I'll have to give it another try.

Thank you, I'm not expecting anything great just yet. Lots to learn.

          :
I think it will focus but people say it is too noisey and cumbersome, I read that the best practice is to prefocus using the half press, then shoot, if you need to re focus, stop shooting then focus again - not tried it though, I find the focus modes confusing.

I think your movie is really steady for hand held! Well done, I will have to try.

Thanks. I've just remembered that I'd set the camera to record at 720p 50fps, I'd seen some clips on Youtube where the video had been slowed down, 50fps was said to be a better frame rate for slow mo?

A belated welcome to the forum Andy.
Nice short movie and still plenty of life in the old dog.
