    Lunchtime visitor...

    Just a quickie; in & out - sorry...

    Opened our back-door to find this little fella just outside, looking very sorry for himself!

    Common Frog - Rana temporaria...

    Cheers;
    Lee

    Lovely picture with good detail, but it's a common toad, not a frog

      Hi Chris; Thanks for your 'heads-up'! I looked at him long & hard trying to decide, and have done so again after your post. I am far from an amphibian expert, so I'm quite happy to bow to your knowledge, but I'm still convinced it's a frog! The field guide indicates that the tell-tales are the dark patches behind the eyes along with the striped legs! What indicators make it a toad?
      Cheers;

        Re: Lunchtime visitor...

        I'm no expert either but the skin is the main difference, with frogs usually having a far smoother skin. Having said that, and having googled some more images, it may not be as clear cut as I thought, and you could be right!

        So I'll shut up for now

                Hi Stan; well I didn't add any saturation, but I agree, it does look a little on the warm side; which is more than it is here right now

                    Hi Nat; nice of you to say so, but in all honesty I posted it only as a conversation piece. I was surprised to see him there; we haven't had a frog (or toad) in our garden for ages...
                    Cheers;
