    Couple from Minsmere

    Couple of images from trip to East Anglia.

    For those who don't know Minsmere is the place where the RSPB did one of its first conservation projects with the Avocet. If you go in the summer there are lots to be seen. When I went I didn't expect to see any as its a bit late in the season. However spotted a single bird, probably a juv:

          Surprised at that Steve. Certainly at the moment with my 5D3 I'm very happy with the results. Will be adding a 7D2 eventually and suspect the crop factor and much longer effective focal length will prove to be a challenge. Others on here using that combo get good results.

            Two nice shots Ant but they would both benefit from a bit of additional processing. Shame the avocet is slightly looking away and the bird is rather in shadow. The latter can be sorted easily - in ACR the detail was really brought out by around +50 on the shadows slider.

            The lapwing will take about another half stop exposure and again lifting the shadows really makes the colours pop

              Yep Stan, light for avocet wasn't ideal so best of images I got.

              Lifted shadows on avocet but maybe a bit more. Looking at lapwing again exposure could indeed be lifted.

                        The second pose looks better Ant but it could still do with a lift in the shadows and a selective levels layer on the eye will bring out more detail too
