    Water Rail

    At Slimbridge on Sunday

Often described as elusive, they were visible almost all day and at one stage, three together

An excellent image Stan. As you say they are normally very elusive so you did well.

      thanks Brian

At this time of year you can almost guarantee seeing them as they come out of the reeds to feed on the bird feeder droppings. Usually just a single one so quite unusual to see three at once

        Excellent

I hope they are still as obliging when I go there in ten days or so.

Great shot Stan of a truly elusive bird. Was hoping to get to Slimbridge myself last week, but it was not to be, hopefully this week or next.

Nice shot, they do seem to be easier to find when the ground and water is frozen.

sighting from this hide guaranteed at this time of year and they tend to stay out in the open plenty long enough to get shots
