2013 Kestrel Image

Just going through all of my images and deleting/cataloguing. Something I've been planning to do for sometime.

Anyway came across this image from 2013, shot with my original DSLR a 60D and a Tamron 70-300.

Interesting to see how different the nest is compared to current.

An amazing difference, the later nest looks very sparse in comparison.

Yes quite a big difference.

Another thing I noticed in these early images, both birds had rings on their legs. Normal convention for ringing of all birds is for ring on right leg for a male and on the left for a female.

There’s a very noticeable difference between the nest in this image and the one in your current series Ant. I wonder if in 2013 the Kestrels took over the nest site from a different species, Jackdaw perhaps.

Info from some of the older local people is that this site has been used by kestrels for at least 25+ years.
