    Drying Off?

Drying Off. by Ian Wheatley, on Flickr

Took this whilst out walking my local canal. Never seen one exhibit this pose before. Was he drying off or cooling down due to the heat? Anyway, comments welcomed as always. Regards to all. Ian W.

Well caught Ian, I've seen this pose before, but not sure why they do it. I don't believe its drying off, more than likely cooling down or capturing a bit of sun very much like you see Blackbirds etc with their wings out stretched.

Thanks Trev. Tend to agree with you, it was damned hot today. Beautiful creatures but one has decimated our local lake. Predated all the Ducklings and Cygnets. Cheers, Ian W.
