    Tied up in Knots

We went to Snettisham over the weekend. On a Sping tide, the birds are forced off the mudflats to the inland pools. There are currently over 90,000 Knots on the Wash, and they all seemed to be in the air at once. I'll need a lot more practice to get a decent shot - getting a good shot of one BIF is hard enough - but thousands??? Anyway, I'll have to try again one day, so any advice gratefully received.

All true Trev, unfortunately Snettisham is a 150 mile drive each way, so it's not a location I can get to too often.

That's a great pity because I've heard it's a great site, I know someone that lives at West Beckham.

Snettisham is good for the "Spectacular" like last weekend, but that is only possible (depending on tide times and daylight hours) half a dozen days a year. While we were they we also went to Tichwell Marsh a bit further round the coast - fabulous, Bearded Tits, Bittern, Curlews galore, a huge flock of Golden plover, Marsh Harriers, and many more. Also a Muntjac, a Chinese Water Deer, and Seals.

If you're up that way you must go to Tichwell too.

At first, I thought your sensor needed cleaning in the second shot..., as Paul said, nice sight to see.

It looks rather better full size (45MP) on a big screen.
