As usual Stan great image of a lovely little bird, perfect backround to set the image off.

      Thanks Ray

I went back to Blashford today but no shots from the hide - it only has the one opening window with enough room for 2 togs and a couple of them took up residence there for the whole morning

Cracking picture again Stan. Was this taken with 400mm or something else. I have the big birthday next year, yes that one and I am pondering what to drop hints for, ha ha.

                Re: Goldfinch

Thanks for the info Stan. Certainly a very stunning piece of equipment. Do you use it more with the extender or more without it fitted?
                Cheers

                  Hi Treff

90% of the time the extender is fitted but it may get used on its own for dragonflies and butterflies in the summer. Generally for the bigger birds and captive animals etc, if i just need around 300mm, more often than not I will also need the flexibility of a zoom so the extender will be fitted to my 70-200 f2.8

                    Re: Goldfinch

Thanks for the info again Stan. I think I now know what to hint for. I did have a 300mm 2.8 but let it go a few months ago but it was FD fitting so needed to up grade and to be honest it had seen better days. Thanks again.

You wont go far wrong with the 300 f4 Treff - Dee has exactly the same and neither of us would part with it, unless we could afford the 2.8 version

                      good luck with that
