    Well seen and captured.

    I have many heron shots, but I have never actually seen them catch anything.

      back in the summer at Slimbridge we saw a heron take a reed warbler but couldnt react quickly enough to get a shot

        Ah, I was blinkered with regard to the fish.

        I have actually got a shot where the heron had raided a nest for young birds.

          We have a heron that visits our garden fairly frequently because of all the local ponds, but have only ever seen him perched on the top of the fir trees, this is a well caught shot of a fascinating bird.

              Excuse my ignorance (as I think that there is probably a way of seeing photo data), but was this shot taken with a flash?

                hello john, no flash was not used, here is the main data from this photo, 5D mk 11, 70/200 2.8L is @ 200mm, 1/640 at F5.6, iso 200, 6/7/10 at 07-11-56am just lucky with the light,
