    Kingfisher

This is what I went down to the river to try and photograph. It was a 7:45 am start and snapped my first Kingfisher at nearly 3:00pm. Not the best background I could hope for, but I am not going to argue it.

As mentioned in a previous thread, with wildlife, it doesn't matter how much time and discomfort you go through if you get a shot you want, it's a good result.

    Hi Colin,

I think any good picture of a Kingfisher has got to highly rated because this bird is so bloomin' difficult to snap. I admire your perseverance - at least you came away with a good 'un. Well done that man

      Re: Kingfisher

I really like the picture of the Kingfisher. I am not one myself for the flat same coloured backgrounds. This shows the bird off in its natural surrounding and I think it is very, very good.

        Re: Kingfisher

Colin, another vote here for the natural background, so I think this shots is a corker. Well done indeed!

Annoyingly, I've yet to even see a Kingfisher, but a couple of days ago my wife was driving less than a mile from our house, and stopped at traffic lights, next to a pond. A blue flash plopped into the pond, came up and flew past her car! She was so excited! Looking forward to seeing one sometime!

        All the best, Mike.

Indeed it was John, as I suspect the same for your Avatar.

As you say not the best of backgrounds but what does it matter when its a kingfisher and what dedication to sit in the cold for more than 6 hours
                  Excellent

Your'e not wrong. In fact I was wondering if my Avatar and your recent Otter shots are of the same animals.

Beautiful image of a beautiful little bird, I often see them darting up the river when fishing, there never still for long so well done with this cracking shot.

Awesome photo Colin, you should be proud with this one, I would be! It seems pretty big in the frame so I take it you used a monster lens?
