    Scots Pine woodland

As a retired forester I obviously love trees and woodland but find it very difficult to photograph them. I see things and have an idea of the sort of picture I would like but they rarely turn out as I want.

    So does this work?

For me, that really works. The main lighting draws me in right away, and then the splashes of dappled light and sky pull me right to the back of the image. Nice.

I think it works ...the natural vignette, sapling in the mid distance and as Alex says above regarding how the light falls. Strong saturated foliage and bark textures provide interest.
