Although this was taken in late September that seems a bit early for real autumn colour so I'm thinking this tree is a bit distressed...

Was that before all the rain? If it was I expect it would have been the dry weather, it did that to some trees in my garden

Mine are still quite green, with I’m pleased to say a good acorn crop this year

Good point, yes it was before the rain set in and up on the chalk downs so it probably was feeling the drought a little.
